Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has recognized great American public, parochial, and private elementary and high schools with the distinguished Blue Ribbon Award, a symbol of exemplary teaching and learning. Since our founding, ICSJ School has met the academic criteria to apply for this honor and national recognition several times. We are thrilled to announce that based on both Spring 2022 and Fall 2022 i-Ready 3rd - 8th Grade student assessment data we have once again qualified and will be submitting our full application over the coming months. The average score for 3rd - 8th Grade ICSJ students was in the 85th percentile or above on the i-Ready diagnostic test during both the spring of 2022 and the fall of 2022. Only three other schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago matched this performance in the Spring of 2022, and ICSJ is the ONLY Archdiocese school in the city of Chicago that has qualified for this status this year! We could not be prouder of our students, teachers, staff, and families whose collective effort throughout the pandemic has made this honor possible. The words perseverance and resilience have been used often throughout the pandemic and recovery and we truly exemplified these attributes as a school community. In a time when schools across the city, state, and globe experienced COVID learning losses, ICSJ saw remarkable growth in math and reading! Only 50 private schools can be chosen for the full award and we are hopeful that ICSJ will be among those selected. Stay tuned as we progress through the application process in the coming months.
